In addition to vinyl chloride, there are excessive acetylene, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen which are not reacted by hydrogen chloride, and impurities such as dichloroethylene, trichloroethylene and dichloroethane which are produced by side reaction in the purification unit of vinyl chloride after conversion reaction.

In the process of operation, the appropriate amount of absorber can be effectively used to treat the gas mixture, so that the latter can be separated to a certain extent. Water is the most commonly available absorbent.
